Dan McGowan joined Far Hills Group in 2013 to broaden the firm’s sales and marketing efforts to international institutions and family offices in East Asia. Dan speaks fluent Chinese and draws on over fifteen years of experience building and managing relationships with officials in the public and private sectors in Asia. Prior to joining Far Hills Group, Dan was a Senior Director and China Chief Representative with Newedge, a global multi-asset brokerage firm. Based in Shanghai, China, Dan managed the joint venture between Newedge and its partner CITIC Futures, a subsidiary of CITIC Group, a $12 billion company listed on the Hong Kong exchange. While both growing Newedge’s market share and expanding their position as a top-ranked derivatives broker in China, Dan worked with large state-owned enterprises and private enterprises trading on overseas exchanges as well as with hedge funds, market makers, investment banks and proprietary traders operating on domestic Chinese futures exchanges. Prior to Newedge, Dan was a Managing Member at SinoVentures LLC, where he offered a broad range of consulting services to international companies seeking market entry into China.

Dan holds a BA from the University of Notre Dame, an MA from the University of Virginia, and is ABD on a PhD in Chinese Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
